Ep 62. The Program
[Upbeat Intro Music]
Kelly Nolan: Welcome to The Bright Method Podcast where we’ll discuss practical time management strategies designed for the professional working woman. I’m Kelly Nolan, a former patent litigator who now works with women to set up The Bright Method in their lives. The Bright Method is a realistic time management system that helps you manage it all, personally and professionally. Let’s get you falling asleep proud of what you got done today and calm about what’s on tap tomorrow. All right, let’s dig in!
_________
Kelly Nolan: Hey, hey! Well, welcome back. This is a special episode because this summer I am doing episodes every other week, and an episode dropped last week but I wanted to come on here and do a special one because enrollment for my next program opens this Thursday. And because spots are limited and I don’t know how quickly it’ll sell out, I wanted to make sure that you, here, understood that enrollment was opening this Thursday if you’re interested!
Now, just for the sake of transparency, just know that I really prefer not to sell hard here or anywhere else, for that matter. The selling part of running a business is not the part that really gets me going. I really like sharing time-management strategies. I really enjoy getting to know people here. And that’s really what I love, and I run a business, and I really believe in The Bright Method program, so I must promote. Luckily, I run the program and just have to promote it twice a year, but that is this time of the year.
So I wanted to share that enrollment for my fall of 2024 program opens this Thursday, August 1st at 10:00 AM Central. Spots are limited, as I said, so I just wanted to make sure you knew about it and jumped in right away if you were sure you wanted to learn it. If you are not interested, totally fair. Feel free to skip the rest of this episode and join me again next week for a not-program-specific episode, but this one is gonna be all about The Bright Method, so keep listening if you’re interested and jump and run away and do something fun or listen to something else if you are not. Regardless, thank you for being here!
Topics Covered in This Episode – 1:58
So if you are interested, here’s what this episode’s gonna cover. I’m gonna go over what you learn inside a Bright Method program, how it works in terms of calls and the investment and all that kind of stuff, how it’s different from what you might have tried in the past, and dates and times of where to sign up.
Now, I recommend for you, if you are interested, to really block your calendar for Thursday at 10:00 AM Central and put the link to the website in the calendar invite to make life easier for future you. As I said, spots are limited. I just don’t know if it’ll sell out or sell out quickly, and I just wanted to make sure you knew about it.
What We Learn in The Bright Method Program – 2:33
So here’s what we learn in the eight-week Bright Method program. First, we talk about how to leverage digital calendars (maybe one, maybe more) like Outlook, Google, Apple, a combination of those, to bring together all of your (and if you have them) and your partner’s, your kid’s, your pet’s, whatever the might be, all of those activities and to-dos together so you have a streamlined, realistic understanding of everything on your plate and how you’ll get it done over time. By doing this, we create a more objective understanding of your capacity and your workload so you can avoid overcommitting.
As one client just said, and said, “My biggest win has been the ability to see immediately when I’m overcommitted, which allows me to confidently negotiate timelines up front. Now, I can prevent the whole cycle of being overcommitted from happening.”
Next up, step two of four, is that we unload all of the personal and work logistics that we normally carry in our heads into this system so that we can free up your mind from the mental load. This will help you be better focused at work and be present at home. As some clients have shared, they said, “The best part is that there is no longer an endless and constant mental list in my head about everything I have to do.” And another client said, “I have reclaimed my brain space.”
Step three is that we walk through a six-step process. We’re breaking down projects into bite-sized steps so that you can build out a game plan to really accomplish projects over time and have the clarity of how you’ll get things done over time and not right now so that you can get things done with less last-minute scramble, have better work quality product, have communication throughout a team, and just have a lot less stress because you see how it can happen over time.
As one of my clients said, she said, “You will be amazed with the results. I rarely forget anything, and if someone has a question about a project, I can actually give them a pretty solid update on where things stand with it now.”
The final step of this is we incorporate planning sessions, and I’m a big proponent of personalizable, step-by-step agendas which I give you for these planning sessions so that you know nothing’s falling through the cracks and you can walk into each weekend knowing you’re on top of your big projects and the little tasks as well, all personal and professional, just really having that clarity of how you’re gonna get things done even if you’re not doing it right now and will do it in the future.
When these four pieces come together, you will have a new ability to take control of your work hours and your workload, really draw some boundaries at work and feel more confident in maintaining them. You’ll be able to focus better at work. You’ll be able to be more present and relaxed at home. You’ll just have more clarity because you’ll see how all of your personal, family, and professional activities interact and come together and can really up your communication game within your family around those things. And you’ll just have more confidence and clarity of how you’re gonna get everything done over time. My goal for you is that you are able to go to bed proud of what you’ve got done today and calm about what’s on tap tomorrow.
How We Learn The Bright Method – 5:27
So how we learn this, how we get there, there are a couple components of this. First of all, the way you really learn the curriculum of this system is through pre-recorded video lessons that you get. They drip out each week, so each week you’ll get new video lessons. You can watch them on your own time. You watch them when it works best for you, at your own pace. You can speed them up, you can slow them down, whatever you’d like to do, and that’s really when you learn the meat of the program of the system.
We also have weekly group Zoom sessions where you can get live feedback from me but also the group itself and guidance and support as well. These calls are held on Thursdays at 12:00 PM Central. They are all recorded and made available as well, so if you can’t make a call, don’t worry. We record them all, trim them up, put them up on the website. They’re up usually later that afternoon, and you can watch them before you keep going on.
We also have three weeks of industry-specific breakout sessions during the week. So I think it’s weeks four, five, and six of the eight-week program, we meet inside industry-specific groups. Those industry sessions are corporate, legal, medical, and business owners. And if you don’t fall neatly within one of those categories, I can work with you to figure out which one is the best fit for you based on what your career time-management pain points are. And in addition, if you fall in two of them, like let’s say you’re a lawyer who runs her own law firm and you want to go to the legal and the business owners one as well, you are more than welcome to attend.
In addition to the video lessons, the weekly calls, and the industry-specific breakout groups, we also are doing two mom breakout groups this time. It’s actually kind of new. I’ve done a mom breakout call each time, and the reason for that is that it’s not only open to moms. This program is available to anyone, whether you have kids or not, and so, this is an opportunity where the conversation can be all about moms in a way that’s helpful, and it can come down to managing kid logistics and sharing the load with a partner and family or a nanny or whatever it might be, but also not dominate the conversations with it on every call because not everybody in the program is a mom.
The reason I’m doing two this time is that I’m gonna do one for moms of zero-to-ten-year-olds and then one for moms of ten-plus-year-olds. It’s a new thing. We’ll see how it goes. But I think that the time-management pain points are really different for those two groups of people, so I want to allow for that distinction and conversation within the program.
The final component of this is that you get unlimited email support with me. So you can get your questions answered in a more private setting if you prefer and also just a personalized setting. If you want to reach out to me via email, you are more than welcome to at any part of the program.
So again, it’s video lessons, weekly calls, industry breakout calls, the mom breakout calls if you are interested in that (and just to be clear, anyone is welcome whether you’re a mom or not, but it’s just a time to have that more mom/kid-dominated conversation), and then the email support as well.
The Investment for The Bright Method Program – 8:21
So the investment for this eight-week program and all of that is $2,997 in one payment or I have a couple different payment plan options including over 5 months and over 9 months if you want to spread them out that way. I completely get that this is a big investment, so I just wanted to share a couple things that past people have said about it.
One woman said, “This program was worth the time and money ten times over.” Another woman said, “Now I think I couldn’t afford not to take this program. It has changed the way I look at time and the way my brain processes it. It was a game changer for me.” And another woman said, “The mental space and time saved is worth the money and the time commitment. This method will pay off for years to come and will only get better as the years go by,” which I fully concur with because it has taken me through so many different phases of my life, and I truly do not know how I would manage it all without it.
That said, I completely understand if you are skeptical about time management. I have been there, and I tried a lot of things, and nothing really stuck until I figured out this system. And so, I understand if you are as well. It’s totally valid. So this is why I offer a guarantee. If you are unhappy with the program after our first call, just email me within 24 hours of that first call, and I will refund you your investment in full. I am very confident in this program, but I want you to be as well going in.
Why The Bright Method is Different – 9:40
All right, along those lines, I also wanted to address why this program is different from things you might have tried in the past. To me, it comes down to three main reasons.
The first is it is designed for professional working women. When I was struggling with time management, many of the things I tried — looking back I realize why they didn’t fully work for me was because they were designed by men who seemed to have a lot more support at home than I did. Unlike many other systems out there, The Bright Method takes into account all the number of roles that we women play in our personal and professional lives, and it also really addresses the mental load that women carry and helps you manage it all in a way that helps you lighten that mental load in one comprehensive system that molds to your life, your preferences, and your industry. Plus, when we talk about things like drawing and enforcing boundaries, we talk about it in ways that will work for women, and more importantly, in ways that women are comfortable with, so they’ll actually do those things.
So that’s why I really focus on women. It really comes down to all the roles we play, the mental load, and the different ways that we have to draw boundaries and feel confident behind it and maintain it given how women are perceived and how we feel like we are being perceived in those moments.
The second reason is it’s really practical. It is all about practical step-by-step instructions and not just high-level platitudes. I really struggled with that when I was searching for time-management help. I would too often hear these high-level, seemingly-simple concepts like, “Just schedule self-care,” or “Protect your boundaries,” or even, “Time block. Just time block.” Those things sound easy enough, but when you go to implement them, it can be really tricky to figure out how to do that and how to make it work for you in the long run, which makes you feel even better about yourself. And that is exactly what I really work to avoid here.
I want to show you exactly how to implement, give you more practical examples than you probably want, and really be there for you in your email inbox or on these calls to help you tailor this system to you. I believe time management is very personal, and I also believe we need a lot of help getting to that personal solution that feels really great for us, and that’s what I like doing, to be there to help support you through it and also really push for the practical so that you know what this can look like for you and bring it to life in your life.
The third reason, along those lines, is that The Bright Method molds to you. It does not cram you into some rigid schedule just because it happened to work for me or someone else. I completely get that your life might look really different than mine, and from other clients in my industry, your industry might have its own quirks. Your family might have a ton of commitments. You may have certain preferences that have made other more rigid systems hard to maintain, and it’s really why I pride myself on giving a flexible time-management system that molds to you and your life and them also your life as it changes because your life in a year, three years, five years is gonna look different than it does right now, and this system needs to continue serving you for it to be effective.
I truly believe The Bright Method delivers on that. I provide, as I said, unlimited email support. I show you how to ask questions without even having to type anything out and just record your screen and ask me questions if you’d like. I provide a ton of opportunities to get, not only my input, but input from other really smart, really impressive, really kind and generous professional working women, and some of them are more likely to have faced similar challenges to you than I have. And so, that’s why that’s really, really valuable. I really want to make sure that the system you walk away with works for you, your industry, your family, and your preferences.
Dates of The Bright Method Program Fall 2024 – 13:17
All right. In terms of the dates, I’m going to give them to you, but just know that they can also all be found on my website at www.kellynolan.com. I am terrible at remembering this stuff or even processing it when I hear it. I have to be at my computer and seeing it. And so, assuming that you’re not by your computer, I just want to make sure you know that the dates I’m gonna share with you right now are also on the website at www.kellynolan.com.
Also just know when you jump on the waitlist, which is an option if you’re listening to this before the Thursday enrollment open time. If you jump on the waitlist, you also get a bunch of “add-to-calendar” features so you can add the enrollment time and even also the call times to your calendar now to block your work availability.
In terms of the dates, we kick off on September 26th. I really like doing late September. It kind of allows all of us to settle into that fall routine a bit before kicking things off, so that part’s really fun. That first call is only half an hour, and then all the calls after that, which I’m gonna get to, are an hour long. It does wrap up on November 16th, which I also love because then we’re done right before the holidays, and you can go into your holidays with this new system giving you a lot of clarity and less stress but you’re also not juggling more work and calls throughout the holiday season.
So wrapping that up, it kicks off from September 26th through November 16th. When you sign up, right away, if you do, you get welcome videos. You get a form to fill out that I ask you a lot of questions on so I can get to know you and really make sure I understand, as I said, your industry, your family, your tech setup, all that kind of stuff. And you also get my email mini course right away and you can dig into it right away. That’s available on the whole right away. If you have purchased my email mini course in the past, just reach out and ask for a refund for that element of it once you’re in the program. I’m happy to do that for you.
Calls run from that September 26th through November 16th time on Thursdays from 12:00 to 1:00 Central, other than that first call, as I said, it’s only half an hour. And so, just know that it’s for an hour Thursdays right at 12 o’clock Central. All the calls are recorded, so please know if you miss one of them, if you miss a few of them, whatever it might be, they are recorded and put on the portal later that afternoon, so you’re welcome to check them out in that way as well.
There are a fair number of breakout calls, so I’m not gonna go through all the dates on that in this podcast episode but know you can check that out on the website. They’re all listed there, and again, if you jump on the waitlist, you can block your availability for those calls right away if you’d like to.
Fall Enrollment in The Bright Method Program – 15:40
So if you’re in, enrollment opens on August 1st. It will remain open until mid-September unless it sells out beforehand. I’m so bad at guessing if it’s gonna sell out, when it’s gonna sell out, all that kind of stuff. So just know that it might. Spots are limited. To be sure that you get in, just make sure to sign up when it opens. And I wanted to share a last few words from other women who’ve gone through the program because they can talk about it in ways that just — they do a better job of it than I can. [Laughs]
One woman said, “I feel so much more empowered to do what’s best for me rather than letting other people drag my day around. I also really love and respect how your course inspires personalization and individual autonomy rather than do-what-the-guru-does-precisely type thinking. It’s been wonderful. Worth the time and money by a longshot.”
And another woman, Lindsay, said, “If you’re considering taking The Bright Method program, absolutely do it. Invest in yourself. The rewards are incredible. I truly didn’t know how life-changing this process would be. I feel that I am a much better wife, mother, daughter, employee, colleague, and friend now that I have this practical time/task-management system in place.”
So I hope you join me! You can check out all the details at www.kellynolan.com/bright. Calendar when it opens on August 1st at 10:00 if you want to jump in or, as I said, jump on the waitlist, and you’ll get a good “add-to-calendar” feature there too. I’m here if you have any questions. You’re welcome to email me at ke***@ke********.com. I hope to see you in there and thank you for being here!
