When I bring on new clients, I ask them a series of questions, including how productive they feel at work and at home – and if they’re able to truly enjoy downtime.
Even when people score themselves high on productivity, almost everyone ranks themselves low on being able to truly enjoy their time off.
To me, that’s the real sign of overwhelm – when we feel like we have so much to do and we’re not sure it can all get done, so we feel guilty taking a break. We think we should always be working, so even when our bodies are technically relaxing, our minds are anxious.
We think, “I’ll really take a break when X is done… when Y is done… when Z is done…”
But here’s the thing:
There will never come a time when all of your to-do’s are done. If you wait for that magical time to arrive before you take a break, you’re going to burn out and life’s not going to be all that enjoyable.
We need a system that accounts for this reality AND lets us truly relax.
Let me just cut to the chase: to-do’s lists are NOT that system.
When you use to-do lists (or post-it notes, task management apps, etc.), you have a list of things you need to do – but you don’t have a clear, realistic plan to get it all done that accounts for how long things take, when you’ll do them, and how they interact with everything else you’ve got going on.
You’re therefore never truly sure IF you can get it all done – so you’re definitely not sure if you can get it all done and take a break tonight.
No bueno.
On the flip side, when you use my method, you have a clear game plan for how you’ll get it ALL done OVER TIME in a realistic way.
You see clearly that you do NOT have to work tonight to still get it all done in time. And this gives you the freedom to actually enjoy that downtime. Make sense?
I’d love to show you how to get there. If you’d like more info when my next program is ready to rock, you can sign up for the waitlist here. It’s possible to live a more enjoyable life – and it’s oh so worth it.
