When I recommend calendaring all of your activities, that does NOT mean “calendar every minute of your day.”
The point is to make your activities and tasks visual. This lets you play with them to avoid conflicts, get clear what’s on your plate and how you’ll get everything done over time, get realistic about what you can get done in a day, build in breathing space, protect time for what’s important to you, and get intentional about how you spend your time.
The point is NOT to fit more into your day or make you be productive every single second. Yuck – that’s kinda the opposite of what I’m going for.
So, to be clear: white space is encouraged, lady! And what’s cool is that when you calendar everything — including all activities and tasks — white space actually means free time because everything else is already accounted for. Pretty sweet.
